Abstract
Conversational implicature is a pragmatic concept of great importance for four reasons. First, implicature concept enables language users to reveal lingual facts beyond linguistic theories. Second, implicature concept has an important role to convey the meaning different from what what is literally uttered. Third, implicature concept is capable of simplifying the structure and content of semantic description. And fourth, implicature concept could explain precisely the lingual facts which seem to be not interrelated phisically, or even contradictory. Implicature exemplifies the language use in which information delivered is much more than what is said. In order that implicatures may be correctly interpreted, cooperative principles should be expressed in the application. In cooperative principles, speakers are obliged to obey the four maxims namely, maxim of quality, maxim of quantity, maxim of relevance, and maxim of manner. Based on its form, implicature may be distinguished into implicature of implicit meaning and implicature of explicit meaning of an utterance. Besides, implicature can be differentiated into conventional implicature and non-conventional implicature.
