Abstract
In this research, the writer discusses deixis especially person deixis used by broadcasters of the radio stations. The problems that will be analyzed are the kinds of person deixis used by broadcasters of the radio stations and the purposes of the use of person deixis used by broadcasters of the radio stations. In this thesis, the writer uses descriptive method. It is done by collecting,classifying and analyzing the data. The data of this research are person deixis used by broadcasters of the radio stations. The result of data analysis reveals three kinds of person deixis. They are person deixis associated with sex, person deixis associated with age, and person deixis based on social status. The purposes of using person deixis by broadcasters of the radio stations are representatives and declaratives. Representatives are speech act that the speaker tries to convey his believe that some proposition is true or not. The proposition can be statement of fact, assertion, conclusion, and description. Meanwhile, declaratives are used when the speaker utters a declaration which brings about a new state of affairs.
