Abstract
This article is mainly aimed to discuss the morphological processes in Indonesian. There are two broad categories of morphology: inflection and derivation. The theoretical basis of the inflection-derivation dichotomy is scrutinised. The inflectional morphology is concerned with syntactically determined affixation processes. It does not create new words; while derivation morphology is used to create new lexical items. This theory (inflection and derivation) can be applied in Indonesian. In the Indonesian language, inflectional properties of words are assigned by affixation and reduplication, while derivational properties are assigned by affixation, reduplication, and composition.
