Abstract

This thesis discusses George Gordon Lord Byron's feeling expressed with hyperboles that are found on his poems. Those poems are “Adieu, Adieu! My Native Land”, “And Wilt Thou Weep When I Am Low?”, and “For Music”. During the making of this thesis, library research method is applied. The discussion is focused on the hyperbole expressions that exist in those three poems.Some literary theories, biography of George Gordon Lord Byron, and some additional information review are the secondary data of this thesis. The use of theories of figure of speech, hyperbole, denotative meaning,connotative meaning, and biography is applied in this thesis. The structural approach,psychological approach, and biographical approach are applied in this thesis since they are relevant to answer the problems. The analysis shows that the poem entitled "Adieu, Adieu! My Native Land"has four feelings of George Gordon Lord Byron expressed with hyperbole. They are expressing his loneliness, uneasiness,will,and regret. In “And Wilt Thou Weep When I Am Low?”, there are five feelings of George Gordon Lord Byron expressed with hyperbole. Those feelings are expressing his introvert,awareness of the death, peace,strength, and doubt. In “For Music”, there are three feelings of George Gordon Lord Byron expressed with hyperbole. They are expressing his pride, joy, and peace.
