Abstract
The objectives of this research are: (1) to explain the influence of visual imagery on building the setting, (2) to explain the influence of auditory imagery on building the setting, (3) to explain the influence of organic imagery on building the setting. Hamlet is used as the primary source to analyze the thesis. While, the secondary sources are books, references, and articles which are used to support the analysis of the primary data. This research applies structural approach since it can answer the problems about imagery in building the setting. William Shakespeare uses so many imageries in this drama. There are three kinds of imagery that are used, they are visual imagery,auditory imagery,and organic imagery. The writer is interested to analyze this thesis because sometimes setting is described directly. Finally, the writer concludes that actually imagery also can be used to describe about the setting. The setting that is found by the writer is setting of time include morning and midnight. The other setting is setting of condition that includes tension, fear, revenge, quietness, boresome, peace, mourning, and sorrow.
