Abstract

The objectives of research in The Influence of Naturalism in Robert Burns' poems entitled My Heart's In The Highlands, Afton Water, and Jean are:(1) to find Naturalism supported by the theme of each poems, (2) based on the characteristics of Naturalism, the influences of Naturalism are presented through Figures of Speech, Imageries, Symbol, and Romantic Period. The data taken from Robert Burns' poems entitled My Heart's In the Highlands,Afton Water,and Jean.Library research and internet browsing are used to find the related studies. Related studies are used to form the conceptual models. The conceptual models are used to find the data in the poem. Naturalism in Robert Burns' poems entitled My Heart's In the Highlands,Afton Water,and Jean presented through Figures of Speech, Imageries,Symbols,and Romantic Period, they are: patriotism, the scenery, and love. Next, based on the characteristics of Naturalism, the writer describes that heredity, environment,and instinct influence Robert Burns' poems. The data corpus consist of words, phrases, sentences in Robert Burns'poems entitled My Heart's In the Highlands, Afton Water, and Jean. The poem analyzed descriptively using structural approach. The result of analysis in chapter III and it is concluded in chapter IV.
