Abstract
The objectives ofthe study entitled Eustacia's Tragical Marriage in Thomas Hardy The Return of The Native are to describe Eustacia's Tragical Marriage,to find out the causes of Eustacia's Tragical Marriage, and to find out the effects of Eustacia's Tragical Marriage. In collecting the data, the library research is done to form the conceptual models used to find relevant data in the novel. The data are descriptively analyzed using psychological approach. Eustacia's tragical marriage can be seen in the couple's unhappiness,Eustacia's affair with the former love, Damon, and her husband's mother's denial.The causes Eustacia's tragical marriages are Eustacia's obsession that is different from her husband's and Damon hypocrisy. The effect of Eustacia's tragical marriage is on Mrs. Yeobright who disappointed with her son's decision to marry Eustacia, on Clym who deeply regrets, and blames on himselffor his mother and his wife's death,on Thomasin who feels deserted due to her husband's affair with Eustacia, on Eustacia herselfwho feels depressed and finally commits suicide.
