Abstract
Education is important thing in Human Life, because Education is one of decisive factors in the civilization's increasing of a nation, but the effectiveness of Educational Process, depend on the Philosophy of Educational formulation which is adopted by the educational actors themselves. If the Philosophy of Educational formulation does not base on the moral values and common values, therefore education will be useless or just has little benefit for human being. Gulliver's Travels which is written by Jonathan Swift, especially part III, A Voyage to Laputa, tells about a sailor of England named Lamuel Gulliver that shipwrecked on the Laputa Island, wherein the King, the Nobleman and scientists of that island are absorbed in science. There is a grand academy named Lagado. Many cost and energy which is spent for their researches and for their discoveries of new methods in Lagado University, but most of their sciences do not pass rational study accurately or do not concern with the rule of Logical thinking. The purpose of this study are (1) to describe the Philosophy of Education in this novel from the story which is told by the main character, (2) to formulate the Author's View about the Ideal Philosophy of education, after comparing the story of Gulliver's Travels, with the condition and situation of England in Eighteen Century, when this novel is written. The essence of Philosophy in this analysis,is connected with the existence, the purpose and the benefit of the true education.
