Abstract
Literature is a subject matter that creates certain expectations for the readers. It creates certain expectations because it is a complex product of imagination of the author. Literature is divided into three, they are: poem, drama,and prose. In this thesis, the writer analyzes poem. Poem is a literary work in written form; usually, the language used in poetry is rhythmical language. Poem can tell stories, describes object and comments on events that happen in the poet's surrounding. The writer is interested to analyze William Wordsworth's the four poems entitled Daffodils, The World is too Much; Late and Soon, The Solitary Reaper and Lines Written in Early Spring because the content of the poems sometimes are directly stated and sometimes implied. In the poem entitled Daffodils, the theme and the influence of Romantic Period deals with French Revolution that happens in Romantic Period. In the poem The World is too Much; Late and Soon,the theme and the influence deals with Industrial Revolution that takes place in England. The Solitary Reaper written by William Wordsworth tells about the nature and the character inhabiting the landscape. While the poem entitled Lines Written in Early Spring which deals with the theme and the influence of Romantic Period are affected by Literary Revolution that occurs in England. Indeed,the writer realizes that this thesis is still imperfect. Therefore,the writer wishes to the readers to give suggestions and criticisms. The suggestions and the criticisms hoped can help the writer to make this thesis more perfect.Finally, the writer apologizes for all the incorrect statement, which mnakes the readers disappointed.
